Alignment of the perfector shaft and gearbox

Alignment of the perfector shaft and gearbox

What is the Perfector?

A perforator is a type of machine used in margarine production. The pasteurized emulsion is directed by a high-pressure pump to a perfector, where the emulsion is cooled and pre-crystallized. The shaft is driven by an electric motor and the torque is transmitted through a gear transmission.

What is the alignment of such devices?

Alignment of the shaft with respect to the gearbox involves the proper alignment of the positions of the seats under the bearings (gearbox) with respect to the seats on which the shaft of the shaft machine is mounted.
This is important because even small deviations can lead to uneven wear of machine parts, breakdowns or reduced product quality.

Frequent breakdowns and stoppages adversely affect the efficiency of the production process and the realization of set plans. The key is to align all elements in one perfect line.

Alignment process of the gearbox with respect to the shaft

  1. Measurement and analysis: The first step is to measure the shaft seating, determine the base and check the input condition of other key machine components. This allows operators to accurately determine whether the gearbox bearings are properly aligned with the shaft axis.
  2. Adjustment: Based on the results of the measurements, operators provide guidelines for the necessary adjustments to ensure that the gearbox is properly aligned to the base. These can be adjustments in height, angle, tilt.
  3. Testing: After adjustments are made, tests are carried out to verify the alignment is correct. This may include load tests, speed tests or product quality tests.
  4. Further adjustments: If necessary, further adjustments are made to achieve optimal alignment of the integrals of the rotating system (gear axis and perifer shaft).
  5. Work Report: Upon completion of the work, the results of the condition before and after the service are presented.

Results

In the above case, a 10-fold improvement in the straightness of element axes was achieved.
The input straightness error of the components was 0.74 mm (unacceptable for prolonged trouble-free operation of the machine).

The final alignment was completed with an error of only 0.07 mm over the entire length of the layout.
