The point cloud is the main result of the 3D laser scanning process. It provides a starting point for any further work. Mesh models are collections of meshes that delineate spatial shape. Mostly, meshes consist of triangles, quadrilaterals or other basic polygons. The smaller the triangles, the more accurate the model, but also the larger the file size. File sizes and precision are always selected according to the characteristics of the object and customer requirements. Individual models get their appearance and texture based on the color of the point cloud and additional high-resolution images.
