Measurement of elements of a gas-steam unit – virtual assembly

In the energy industry, where precision and reliability are of paramount importance, every detail must be manufactured with the utmost accuracy. Even small deviations in dimensions can lead to problems during installation, leaks or disruption of the entire system.

One of our recent projects was the inspection of components of a gas-steam unit, in which modern measurement technology played a key role.

The challenge: precision in difficult conditions

Not all structural elements can be easily measured by traditional methods. The situation becomes even more complicated when we care not only about individual dimensions, but also about geometric relationships once the components are assembled into a single unit. The “final result is influenced by” the parallelism of the assembly planes, perpendicularity to the axis or the local flatness of the buttress itself.

To meet the measurement requirements, we used Laser Tracker, a device that allows extremely accurate spatial measurements, even for large components, when performing this service.

How did the measurement work?

During the task, we focused on:

  • Checking the flatness and parallelism of flanges,

  • Checking the perpendicularity of surfaces between key elements,

  • Analyzing the position of components after assembly by simulating their assembly.

Thanks to the proper preparation of the measuring station, the experience of the team and the precision of the equipment, the measurement went smoothly, and the data was compiled into a detailed report.

Added value for the customer

In addition to the measurement results, the report also included a simulation of component assembly, which allowed the client to assess whether all parts of the gas-steam unit fit together as designed.

Such verification is of great importance – it allows you to detect possible errors even before installation, so you can avoid costly downtime, corrections or damage.

Precision that pays off

Checking dimensions and geometric relationships is not just a quality control step – it is an investment in the safety, reliability and durability of the entire installation. In industries such as power generation and heavy industry, precise measurement is a guarantee that each component will work exactly as designed.
